If it just started, I'd actually say your filament is too humid, and the moisture is preventing a good melting of the plastic...I'd suggest baking your filament. I will hold off on baking the filament for now, just because my parts are printing all the way through and I don't have an oven available...

How fast are you moving the extruder gear ? The extrusion speed is the default on the VIKI LCD panel, I believe it's the 25mm/s indicated by the parameter 'Vmax e' on the screen. Thanks for your replies over the weekend! I got back to the printer this morning and have tried out a couple of your suggestions so far, the results are as follows: unplug the m2, let it sit a min then plug it back in so the rambo reboots. check the cable and little white plug going into the extrude...
