Re: Going to be gone
We had a whole house NG generator put in after a hurricane left us without power for a week. Haven't had a single outage since. I keep hoping for some kind of power outage just to say we got to use it.

Re: Thank you Jin!
You're a quick study, Jules. It took me some time to get the hang of Fusion, even after some time spent with Solidworks. I think a lot of the recent updates have made the UI a bit easier to pick up, though. Let me know if you have any questions on how to model something, I've had a lot of time in th...

Re: HELP! Layers overlapping each other, Halting Production!
My M2 came with instructions to use the included lithium grease (white tub) on the linear rails and Z screw, and 3-in-one oil (not included) on the smooth Z rods. Although someone did say later that the instructions have changed for the Z screw, but I can't verify that.

Re: Vase Sample Print Questions
Instead of lofting diameter circles, why not just draw the vertical silhouette and rotate extrude it? Easier to adjust later, too. And I'd like this opportunity to plug Fusion 360 or OnShape. Both have free for hobbyist tiers and are excellent parametric history based modelers. That means if you don...

Re: Question about bed fan
I also did a fan remount on my dual, with an attempt at a shroud. Combined with my sooper fan, I was able to get very creditable 60 degree overhangs facing away, and 70 degrees facing front.

Re: Sand or Scale down in S3D
If you have a .3mm discrepancy between the model and your printed part, I suggest you run an extrusion calibration to make sure you're not over or under extruding. But you can measure the OD of the bottom part, subtract off the ID of the top part, and add .1-.2mm for clearance. You can also print up...

Re: Sand or Scale down in S3D
S3D can inset outlines in the XY plane, which sounds like what you want. It is better than scaling because scaling will change the position of features based on their location. You can find it as Horizontal size compensation under the Other tab.

This page says:
For a very smooth finish, wet a piece of #400 grit sandpaper with water and sand lightly between coats. Wipe dry and polish with #0000 steel wool on the final coat.

More mod podging
Last night I looked around my desk and saw my tub of mod podge, my new inkjet printer, and my new craft cutter, and decided I needed to do something. I decided on a photo back for my 3D printed phone case. I had the model, so I was able to extract the back face as a DXF to cut from. I also have a no...
