Re: Extruder Acceleration - Holy Crap!
zemlin explained jerk above, but check out this description from the Repetier manual: https://www.repetier.com/documentation/repetier-firmware/rf-installation/ Search down for "Jerk control". If the change in velocity is below MAX_JERK, the planner just assumes it can make that jump instantaneously,...

Re: Odd issues on taller cylindrical parts
Every perimeter of every layer is concentric, so there will be one seam per perimeter, although of course any perimeters that aren't exposed to the outside or inside won't be visible. To precisely locate a position in S3D or other slicer, you can use a model of a thin cylinder or square, move it aro...

Re: OctoPrint update 1.2.10 -> 1.3.0 failing
I had an update failure. Look in the octoprint log, it may tell you what went wrong. The log is, for me, in ~/.octoprint/logs/octoprint.log. For me, there was an existing file that would have been overwritten by the merge: tests/users/__init__.py. Remove any such files and try again.

Re: Audodesk Print Studio Settings
I'm always interested to see what Autodesk has been up to, and your mention of Print Studio intrigued me, so I went to find it. You can still get it, but it appears to be part of their Spark platform, which is shutting down in a month, so I'm not sure it's worth investigating.

Stepper/servo controllers
Just saw this in my email: http://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/t/trinamic/stepper-motor-servos?WT.v_sub=4706380 Integrated driver for controlling stepper servos with third-order S-curve acceleration and close loop feedback. Like TinyG, but using servos. Someone years ago upgraded the stepper...

Yet another 3dhubs win this year
Saw this on Facebook: https://www.3dhubs.com/3d-printers. Yet another year of winning for the M2. When you click through, the first thing that caught my eye was that under Cons was "no dual extruder". That's funny, I wonder why mine appears to have two extruders.... I'm also disappointed that custom...

Re: Timelapse suggestions
You can try mounting a lightweight camera to the bed, but you can't do that with a printed part because the bed gets hot, plus you may have issues avoiding it. If you have a camera mount (I have a side mount design on thingiverse), you can in theory put in some gcode at the start of every layer to m...

Re: Severe warping on large print
If this is an object of your own design, you can also try incorporating some anti-warp features. I've seen people experimenting with accordioned walls to reduce the pulling forces, or you could try introducing a vertical slit in the walls on both sides of a corner.

Re: Fan connections... variable speed fan not working
I did some investigation into bed fan control in the early days of this forum. Marlin controls the fan speed using PWM, turning the current to them on and off at a very fast rate. Turns out fans aren't just simple DC motors these days, and some don't take very well to this kind of control. Slowing d...

Re: How To - Pausing a print at a specific layer. (Simplify3
The pause gcode depends on the host software you are using. If you are using S3D or OctoPrint, M0 is correct. If you are using Pronterface or Repetier Host, it is @pause. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1584
