On other printers, I've seen no ooze at all from a 2mm retract with ABS. It is possible but requires a few things: 1) A very short hot zone. Next time you're dissolving it, put a small aquarium airstone in the container, and a little submersible aquarium heater. Keep the water 80-85F and constantly moving.

Woah don't do that. You'll bake contaminants in.
Get a roll of Taulman 618 and do a few cold-pulls with it. It cleans nozzles really, really well.

For what it's worth, my dual-struder Ultimaker calls for some insane retraction when tool switching. They do 17mm retracts (on a bowden). When I get mine set up, I'm going to try tuning for 12-14mm retracts between tool changes, plus the wiper.
