Is that the one that was being discussed on this forum some time back, or a newer version of the same (it was a Kickstarter project when we were discussing it, and filament splicing in general)?

It's a great idea, although I think it would be simpler/cheaper to do exactly the same thing with four Sharpies in a box, no cutting and splicing needed.

Does the ink from the Sharpies cause any kind of clogging problem? (Just wondering - i'd tried a red Sharpie with a white PLA a while back and got the prettiest ice pink color as a result. But I'm scared of clogging something if it bakes onto the nozzle.)

It probably is. It was a kickstarter before I started printing. I've tried the sharpy thing, but unfortunately it seems to only create pastel colors, and I question what it does to the integrity of the plastic as well as sharing Jules' concern about what it does to the nozzle. If this company could refine the software down to a level where halftone patterns are possible, I could see the possibility of 3d CYMK printing.

Yes. I decided to contribute $5 to their Kickstarter so I've been getting all of their insider updates since then. Seems like it will be a pretty high quality product for those who want that kind of thing. I think they are trying to release it by next spring.
