I got tired of the printed clips deforming and slipping off, sliding around and generally being a nuisance so I switched to these mini clips. They stay on rock solid and you get 60 for less than 3 bucks on Amazon. Plus you can even clip them to the outside of the reel while printing so you don't lose them.
These are the same as the clips used on the bed but "Mini" size. They are much smaller than that picture makes them appear.

I think sometimes having a 3d printer is a "To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail" situation. 3d printed clips seem great in theory but I found the same as you. Over time they slip. This seems like a good solution

Those work very well as bed clips too - just bend them open a little with pliers. (Less chance of hitting the clip with the nozzle on a print that extends towards the front.)
I might need to switch to those for the spools too - i keep stepping on the little printed clips i'm currently using.

Why not just use the holes in the spool? Those are free and will never fall off and get lost.

Combine them with a
piece of cloth and they double as a filament wiper too.

We have a Zortrax M200 at work. We use these filament clips. It says it works with Zortrax filament rolls only, but I haven't tried on any other rolls.

While I'm sure that those clips are great for your purpose, I think what jdacal is getting at is; More people should follow the "KISS" Principle.
