Hello all,
I see many discussions back and forth about new materials, very interesting.

according to experience who makes the best, most dependable PLA for the price?
according to experience who makes the best, most dependable ABS for the price?
according to experience who makes the best, most dependable PETG for the price?

Are there any material manufacturer specifications to adhere to Makergear warranty?

thanks
Peter

The "BEST" is going to vary widely on different opinions....

This Thread is a good place to start when it comes to filaments.

I personally find anything by Esun to be very good quality for the price.

I don't think you can void the warranty by using different brands of filament but I wouldn't necessary call Makergear and say I'm having trouble running xyz brand of filament through your printer please help me. (The forum would be a better place to get help like that.)

+1 on the eSun. It's cheap, tends to be fairly consistent, and they've got a lot of choices. Hatchbox also works pretty well.

If you're looking for mechanical quality? esun is pretty darn reliable.

From a design perspective, You will want to sample various brands to get the color/finish that you want. The PLA market is flooded with such choices and it seems that many brands are aiming to provide color fast quality over print and material quality

i will have to repeat what these guys all said. esun, very reasonable, consistent and quality is good. occasionally you may get a little hiccup with something but no more than any other brand really. i can count maybe 2 in 40 spools. always developing new materials as well. there are other companies out there of course that make nice stuff but it is usually alot more expensive.

Re: warranty

As far as I can tell, using 3rd party filaments doesn't void your warranty (within reason). MakerGear may (and isn't unreasonable to) ask you to use their filament when diagnosing a problem with the machine, but just because some heathen 3rd party stuff touches your machine doesn't instantly void the warranty.

You're likely in the US, but I use these guys in the UK (mainly because I can't seem to find eSun here)

https://rigid.ink/

They tout their thickness tolerance as being the lowest at +/- 0.03mm (not had chance to verify this yet), but it prints well and the selection of colours is good.

I've had very good results with 3D Solutech (which claims to be made in America if that matters to you) PLA. Just started using their ABS (accidentally - assumed it was PLA and ordered it, then wondered why I couldn't get it to stick to the bed. Works for me now with the bed at 90C on a Zebra plate). Anyway, I am quite happy with it. Seems comparable in quality to e-Sun.
