Re: Mechanical Failure
Ha, well one nice thing about fabrics and films is your mistakes usually don't cost you that much in lost materials. I only lost $11 in materials on my CNC screwup, but the 3 hours of lost time sucked. That's not 3 hours of machine time either, that's 3 hours of personal time. The machine can't build gas bags all by itself, it only helps with sealing and cutting but all the layout and prep work is done manually. The great thing about 3D printing is you can just start the process and not be around for the entire duration. If something goes bad, it's not your own time that got wasted and the materials are cheap.JeremyV wrote:I worked at a cnc shop and we had one part that we machined in two pices press fit then sent out to get welded then machined again was some kind of mixer motor mount thing and had to be balanced perfect and everything they were all made of stainless steel. idk how many hours we had in them but I know they sold for like $800 to the manufacturer. not a good day when you forget to put the mill in the right gear and it thinks the spindle is going one direction really slow when in fact its going backwards at 2500rpms. friction welded the endmill to the part. I feel your pain.
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
Re: Mechanical Failure
3hr of lost time sucks. Hopefully that does not happen again.
Hopefully your printing is going smoother now as well!
I have an m2 printer on its way and am super excited been hobbling along with a xyz printer and seems like every time I turn around something on it brakes. The m2 should hold up much better that's for sure!

Re: Mechanical Failure
The M2 is built like a brick, the thing just never breaks down. Even the failure I mention here is basically operator error, now that I know to watch out for it I can prevent it from ever happening again. This forum is indeed awesome, lots of super experienced people here that answer pretty much any question or problem you have.JeremyV wrote:3hr of lost time sucks.
