Rambo replacement recommendation sought

Post by Lateralg » Wed Nov 05, 2014 3:39 am

I killed the Rambo on my M2. My own doing ... please don't ask.

The dead one is V1.1b. I have the M2 24V upgrade. I don't have any exotic plans. I'm satisfied with my present set-up. But I don't want to miss a major improvement that I might value.

I see V 1.3 available for $180. That's within my budget, but don't want to pay for features I won't use.

What version provides the biggest bang/$ ?

gary i could be completely wrong here but i dont think there is anything added through the versions in the way of features. atleast up to v1.2 it has just been improvements in the board. fixing weak points, making it more durable, etc. just get the 1.3. i dont think you can even go back and get older versions unless you find old stock somewhere. you either get a new board from makergear or ultimachine.

I have a 1.3 with a blown Y channel. If you know how to remap pins.h (and you only have 1 extruder), you can remap E2 to be Y, and I'll get you back in business for cheap.

Failing that, MG will likely get you hooked up.

I only need one extruder. Don't know how to remap, but can follow instructions.
Cost & timing = ??

If remap is too far beyond my capabilities, I'll need to go the high-$ route.

I dunno, I'd be happy with $50 shipped. Everything else on it is flawless. Another $10 and I'll do the flash & remap for you if you let me know what hardware you have (power supplies, hotend, LCD, SD, etc). Can start on it tonight...

If you're interested send me a PM for PayPal address.

Your offer is very attractive. Also, I need to keep my machine innards close to stock, so I ordered from MG. V 1.3L for $157 including shipping.

I sincerely appreciate your interest and offer to help. I hope I can repay some day. ( have a slick method to avoid ever having to adjust Z stop, and still get +/- .02 mm bed level setting prior to each print)

No biggie. Mine was a 1.3 that came from my M2, but I couldn't pull my remap trick since I have dual extruders. I'm sure it'll end up on another printer of mine eventually.
