I recently had the NDA issue come up and I responded that it was very unlikely that I would sign one. If you google "why I won't sign your nda" you'll get plenty of good writings on the topic, but I liked this one the best: https://www.marcus-povey.co.uk/2012/07/ ... heres-why/

Interesting.

I'm starting a laser/3D/design business; I wonder if this is why my insurance company had no problem with the 40,000 volt lasers, fine with the design end or any any associated liability there, no issues operating in an old all-timber historical building next to an official landmark; but my agent of nearly two decades wouldn't cover me due to...3D printing.

"The underwriters are concerned about what could be made with the 3D printer and feel it's too much of a risk to cover."

The 3D printed gun drama was always annoying but now I've shifted to incredibly resentful of that idiot who shoved it in to the spotlight and all the hysteria he's stirred up with it.

The level of ignorance displayed in that comment is just staggering (your insurer's comment, not yours). Do they imagine that it's a Star Trek replicator?

I wonder who insures machine shops, where they have machines that can make actual firearms in real metal.

I think maybe we should just keep that one under wraps. Although that's even older tech than FDM, the media wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole anyway.

That said, I will be able to get insurance; they are just going to refer me to "high risk" providers, according the agent. I'm SUPER excited to hear about the premiums for that!
