No matter what you do, those connectors simply won't withstand the high current required for a 12 V platform heater.

You can remove the charred connectors, solder husky wires directly into the PCB holes, and then put Anderson Powerpole connectors on the wires:

Or you can replace the connectors, but use them to drive an external DC-DC solid state relay that can handle the current:

Obviously, I like the SSR, but you should definitely use Powerpoles for high-current connections.

Thanks, Ed :) Just squared away with the block connector that can handle 18A... hopefully it holds up :o
My power supply is the 12v 19v split from 2 years ago. It works fine when the contacts are on. Maybe i just need to reduce vibration while printing and connections will hold better...
Are you using the new E3D extruder? I would like to know if it really is as good as they say.

Also, anchor the power supply cables so that they cannot pull on the connectors: those poor things run on the ragged edge of their rating and need all the help they can get.

I'm still using the original hot end, but expect a long-awaited MG V4 in a week, assuming the January ship date remains valid.

You *really* need to not be using the 12v setup anymore. There is zero margin for error with it. It'll generally survive PLA temps, but I repeatedly ran into issues trying to reach ABS temperatures, and suffice to say I'm on 24v now.

Thanks for the input all. I guess will save up some coin for the 24v upgrade to further the ABS format :)
