convert M3 to M2?

I have spent more time trying to get it to work (which it does intermittently), with far too much stress and some expense in addition (wiring an ethernet, a new pi, and parts that failed and had to be replaced such as the motor and nozzles) in addition to the initial cost of the unit. Can I just convert it to an M2 by getting rid of the Octoprint and adding an sd card reader?
