What's the factory file about and used for?
Just been using a folder, then accessing g code files as needed.

After the build is over, I have to close out and restart S3D.
I cannot remove the g code preview/build file and begin anew
without restarting S3D.

Is there another way?

Know now, this topic is misplaced and should have been posted in the Software Forum.
My bad, but didn't see the right forum after/until I posted this topiv.

If your in the preview mode then at the bottom left hit exit preview mode then just hit the remove model button then drag and drop a new one on to the platform. The factory file contains your model and the process all in one.
