Did you get the puck one or the bigger ones? I bought the puck one a long time ago and couldn't get used to it. It's too light, I ended up moving it around too much.
I also have many years of muscle memory in my cad program spinning things around with my mouse. Just couldn't rewire my brain ;)

Yeah chad i got the puck. They must have changed them since you had one. Your not going to move this thing around anywhere. The base must be solid stainless steel or lead filled. The little thing must weigh 10lbs and its so sensitive you barely have to touch it to make it work. Its definitely a nice piece. Its really just a view changing joystick so you still use your mouse as you normally would but as you said you have to teach yourself how to use it. I did one real quick project with it and am starting to remember the controls. Just a little more time with it an i think ill be good.

I like it a lot. You may want to turn down the sensitivity in the preferences until you get used to it. Also, there is another setting whose name I forget, but it wasn't explained very well anywhere. You will know what I'm talking about if you come across it. Anyway, what that does is restrict you to moving/rotating around one axis at a time. I don't like it, but you might. ("Constrain"?)

thanks jin, ill check that out. i know it had an interactive tutorial that constrained you like that. i did that but of course its a bit different once you actually get into you cad software and go to it. the sensitivity is something to look into though as well.

I have a simple puck style and like it OK. I don't use it quite as much as I should while designing, such as doing a quick pan or rotate to hit a snap, etc. The right mouse button is just too easy to use since your finger is already on the button. I tend to use my other hand for the keyboard, so it takes an extra split second to move to the 3D mouse and back to the keyboard.

When it is time to lean back and get the big picture and fly around checking things out, it is great. Also, mine has no issues with being pushed around, but you do have to get used to it and get your sensitivity settings adjusted, so you don't shove it around while using it! ;) Mine just takes a feather touch to actuate.

Fun to play on Google Earth, pretending you are Superman. :D

Next Monday, the J-Plugs are next. This lure is all China made now, once in the USA.
As 3D printing grows, making stuff here will help defeat the made in China world we live in.
Granted it will take a lot of years, but it will happen.
