Printing holes to fast

Post by markb » Sat Sep 27, 2014 3:25 pm

I have a part I print that has 4 ¼” holes. The part prints good but when it prints the holes it is printing them to fast. Sometimes the first layer the holes will not print good because the speed.
The holes don’t look clean when done but the rest of the print looks good. what speed do I need to adjust. I am using Simplify3D.

What do you have Outline Direction, under Layer tab, set to? Try Inside-Out. That will print the "inside" perimeter (the outer hole perimeter) first, so that the outer one has something more hold on to. You can also try slowing down Outline Underspeed (in Other) to get that hole perimeter to go down slower, although it will slow down ALL outer perimeters at the same time.

Thanks. I switched the outline direction as you suggested and I made the print head a couple thousands closer. It is doing better.
