Oh fudge! Opinions needed.......

Well, I just cooked a nozzle full of PLA into place, because "el genius" here forgot to retract the filament before messing with re-setting the Z-Stop after a minor leveling adjustment.
(By the way Steve....THANKS for that diagram. The leveling part went brilliantly.)

Questions for the experts who have the dual......

Do you like it?
Would it make sense to run the dual with PLA on one nozzle and PETG on the other, and then never ever ever have to bother with that freaking cleaning filament again?
How hard is it to print with the dual? (I know that s3D can handle it, right? )

Just looking for opinions now - I'll go read up on everything in the dual thread once i get the nozzle cleaned out.

Jeeesh! I am an idiot.

That's mostly how I end up using it. If you do it, put whatever filament you use more often in the left extruder, because that one can span the entire X axis, while the right one is limited by the hard stop on the left.

Actually using it for dual extrusion turns out to be a bit of a pain. Think of all the things you had to do to learn to print with one extruder, then multiply that by a lot. It's doable, but turns out to be rarely necessary. S3D dual extrusion support is much improved in the latest release, but there are still some startup gcode issues that aren't perfect and require workarounds.

Actually, forget all of that. It's awesome, you should definitely get it, then write up the definitive how-to.

I will chip in $20 towards Jules's dual extruder upgrade if she writes up a kickass howto for it. Anyone else?

If Jules agrees, and you get $150 in pledges I'll add $25.

Chuckle! Yeah, that would do it...that's actually pretty close to what i figured out that i was being paid for cutter files (back when i was selling them) and associated tutorials.....just about 14 cents an hour. (Before taxes.) ;)

 Aren't you guys getting a little sick of my write-ups yet? I genuinely enjoy figuring things out, and writing them down helps me to keep it all straight in my mind.

But i also don't want to go tromping all over everyone's toes here. You guys have all been doing this a hell of a lot longer, and i imagine by now, you've got to be getting tired of my BS.

So how about I let someone else share the love? It's really fun to write tutorials - everyone should try it once!
