Needed a chess board to go with the steel and bronze chess pieces. Didn't like any of the available models so designed this one. Printed in hatchbox wood (my new favourite filament) and then stained and coated with several coats of shellac.

While not 100% happy with it I think it turned out ok.

Seriously though hatchbox wood is amazing stuff.

What, you didn't like my chess board model on Thingiverse?

But that looks like a nice model. . .

Sorry mate - I must not have found it - I looked a bunch of jigsaw ones etc. I am still learning CAD so I sometimes find myself looking for a project to push myself ... not that this was much of a push but I do like the dovetails that hold it together

Very nice work !!! I bought some hatchbox wood filament upon the recommendation of this forum and have been playing with it as time permits. Seems to print nicely have not gotten around to finishing any of it yet though.

I did the same thing, found all the puzzle-piece-type frames and thought I could do better. Anyway, designing is half the fun, as long as it doesn't take up too much of my precious spare time.
