PLA layers separating??

I got my M2 up and running and the bed leveled very well but something seems to be off here. I'm getting some layer separating and real rough rounded corners. Now I did slow the slow the X and Y down to 1000 as stated on the forum under tips I think.. I am using Simplify3D (newest version) and was wondering if anyone had a good G-Code setup they use for starting that works well and also what other fine adjustments might i make to get better prints? Also I'm adding a few photos to see what I mean about the layers. Extruder temp is set at 215c and bed is at 70c.
Thanks Everyone

can you post a factory file or your fff file. something is off. it just doesnt look right. are you using makergear filament or another brand? looks like some poor bed adhesion, underextrusion and too high a layer height or extrusion width is too narrow for the layer height.
the knob model on the other hand looks like a real nice piece

Yep you definitely picked a nice Z-knob. That's the one I use.
When I first started, less that a year ago I found rsilver's profiles to be really useful. They cleared up a lot of what I was doing wrong.
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:269637 , JimC and others helped a lot with problems I ran into that weren't covered by the profiles. But for the most part they made a difference between night and day in my prints. That plus I started to use the Elmer's glue stick. I had only been using the bare glass back then.

Burn a small segment of that filament. If it's a small blue flame, its PLA. If it's a smoky orange flame, it's ABS. Also, PLA will smell kind of sweet, ABS will smell like a car fire.
I bet that's ABS...

the FFF file is the stock file on S3D all I changed was the speed of X and Y and I added a rather sweet ending G-Code i got off the forum here (i forget who posted it as i save a bunch in a NOTES folder lol) T knob on the other hand is in fact awesome lol big thanks jimc you did a great job hands down!
Some of the forum talk about the S3D settings are kinda confusing to someone new to a 3D printer eve tho im not new to cnc and metal work thats a whole other ball game for sure..

insta I am using MakerGear filament.. When I buy something like this (a machine) I kinda go over board and go all out

Ok maybe not kinda I DO lol
and get this i found out what was wrong and your are dead on it was/is ABS! when I ordered my machine i also ordered like 8 rolls of filament ABS and PLA well since it came with black PLA i also got black ABS and of course i had to let my 7 year old help well i set the PLA on the table as he was going through and checking out what colors i got and confused the two well i didn't notice and sure enough i put it on! thing is i was running it at PLA temps and getting good results in small pieces such as the bed corners that adjust to the glass to keep it from moving heck they printed great! so i switched out to the PLA and printed the classic Turners cube and the bridging was awful it sagged all over the place way more than a little clean up can fix.. Im not really sure what adjustments to make to "fine tune" the nozzle without making it worse and is there a good test piece that is rather fast to try the bridging on?
wish me luck guys later tonight i head out to the hospital to have surgery again on my lower back this is something like the 14th or 17th surgery i have lost count and some i wasnt awake yet for so lord knows but they said i should be back home with in a week but laid up for a while longer
Hey a big thanks to you all for this great forum its a big help and you all that have been doing this for sometime def make this all easier!
I cant smell very well at all maybe to much time spent in the sand over seas but the fire test is dead on even tho i didn't do it i have a minor in bio..

Hey man, check my signature

I gotta know my plastics to make this work. My giveaway was actually the color of the plastic, PLA will hae a somewhat matte finish, ABS at those 0.2mm layers is shinier.

Lol So I'm not the only one that goes over broard when getting a new machine/toy lol I did notice that PLA had a matte kinda finish. Anyone use an inclosure to vent the fumes if so what did you use for it.. I had seen some made from clear Lexan and I had thought about running 2" PVC out and into into a dryer vent mounted out side with the flaps and have a butterfly valve in the PVC to seal it off and use a a 120volt 3" computer style fan ( I have a few of them around) but this vent system would also have a T that would go to 4" and then to outside,at the T one side would go to the printer and the other to my machine shop of course being able to block off each one as need..?? Just a thought but I got over 20 rolls of filament 10 from MakerGear and the rest from MakerGeek so I have a wide range of different kinds also.

I would do just that but half my basement is garage and the other half basement. My garage is filled with metal working machines ( to many of them lol) so that makes a lot of metal dust and dirt. Now in the basement side I have an 8' x 12' room that has my gun safes and reloading stuff in so I don't really want to stick something in there that gets to really high temps such a the printer lol now if I built a Lexan box that I came out of with say 2" PVC and tapped into the exhaust system I have in the garage with is only through a block wall I could put a ball valve or something in line with it to shut down the exhaust or slow it down.... its not a dust collector so it doesn't have much sucking power its just used to remove fumes... I don't know yet lol but I will have to get it off the kitchen table haha..
I just got out of the hospital yesterday so I'm doing good so far I guess I just can't get up and move around right yet witch really sucks :/
