IM JUST WONDERING, CAN ABS BE PRINTED WITH THE SAME DETAIL AS PLA? WHEN I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED MY MACHINE I RAN A COUPLE PARTS WITH THE INCLUDED PLA AND THEY CAME OUT VERY NICE. DETAIL WAS GREAT, ALMOST NO ARTIFACTS. I CHANGED TO ABS AND HAVE BEEN USING IT EVER SINCE BUT I JUST CANT SEEM TO GET THE SAME CRISPNESS OUT OF A PRINT WITH IT. ANY THOUGHTS?

I have never really had that but its hard to interpret crispness. The two definately print different and have a different feel when done. Are your issues at the layer lines or corners?

On an unrelated issue are you in the quad city area?

I can see the layers much more distinctly even at the same layer height setting. It just looks more messy than he pla .

I think a lot of it depends on the manufacturer. I haven't used ABS so I can't speak to that specifically. But it is similar to PETg. It's a bit more oozy than PLA and doesn't capture detail as well. I guess theoretically, you could recapture some of that level of detail by going to a smaller nozzle (like 0.25), with the drawbacks that it takes longer to print things and is more prone to jamming.

PLA is glossier than ABS, are you sure it's not just a visual effect?
