.5mm vs .35mm nozzle settings

Post by jdacal » Sun Nov 30, 2014 3:59 am

I have two questions:

For a larger sized print is there a big speed difference in terms of completion time in going with the .5mm vs the .35mm nozzle?

What settings should I be on the lookout for when changing to a different sized nozzle such as the .5mm? I've only used the .35mm since I purchased the printer.

ok, i have a 2hr print in s3d now. sliced with a .35 nozzle as i said 2hrs. sliced with a .5 nozzle 1.75hrs. not too much difference really. now this is considering you are keeping the same layer height. the time savings would be that with a .5 nozzle you can increase layer height to say .4mm if you wanted to really save time. with a .5 nozzle and .4 layer height your down to 1hr.

Yep!. That would be a lot of time on an 8-9 hour print. Will probably have to check the extrusion depth for a few holes but will give it a try. Bigger layers shouldn't hurt me on this print. Thanks Jim!.

Wanted to ask you what model foscam are you using? My friend has a few and the picture is nowhere near as good. His is very washed out, almost colorless. I said i was going to install some a few years ago, never did and now my wife is on my ass about it. :D

This one if for indoor use (also using it on the printer):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F5C ... UTF8&psc=1

Note: They are kind of big, I guess about 7" tall by 4 or 5" at the base. But for HD at that price it was the only way to go.

This is the outdoor (waterproof) one in case you need one of those (its fixed, doesn't rotate via software):

They all link in to one of these, in case you are looking for a server. It does a whole lot more than just security.

Let me know if you need help setting anything up if you end up doing it.

The server is optional :), the cameras do come with software that lets you access them from the internet, etc., I've never used it though.
