Getting prints off rafts

I'm trying to print an air flow laminarizer. It's a block perforated with holes in a honeycomb pattern. My printer has messed up trying to print this several times, because the first layer holes detach from the bed surface. I can get a good print if I turn on rafts, but then I can't get the object off the raft. Are there raft settings I can tweak to make this easier?

You can try increasing the raft separation parameter, but honestly, rafts are a pain. You're better off addressing your initial issues. How are you prepping the bed, and are you confident in your z-height setting procedure?

Im with jin. In a year and a half i have never used a raft and I was always printing abs. Try setting a brim instead if needed.

I'm prepping the bed with hairspray. My hairspraying technique is probably not optimal. I am covering the glass surface once with spray, letting it dry, and then spraying again. Is there a better way?

Ok, I will try a brim. I hadn't heard of that before.
Thanks!

The brand you use makes a difference. For a medium strength aquanet works. For high strengh use garnier fructise #5. That first coat should not be a light mist. It should be done with the plate cool then the spray hammered on heavy. Additional touchups between prints can be light sprays.
