Looking for current Slic3r, Cura profiles for the M2/V4 (Or at least V3b).
Would like to compare some results with Simplify3D.
The ones I could find seem very old. Are they on the web somewhere or does anyone have these?

I might have to build some slic3r profiles for you ... I know Ed uses it, but his bronze-gear covered fire-breathing steam-powered M2 is different than your out-of-the-box one

I have visions of this "bronze-gear covered fire-breathing steam-powered M2 ", surly a formidable sight!
Even something close would be OK, that at least has the M2 configured. I can put in the temps and such.

This should get you started pushing PETG through a V4 hot end:
http://softsolder.com/2015/03/20/makerg ... -for-petg/

I've made a few tweaks since then, but it's pretty close to what I'm using now.

For PLA with an old hot end and somewhat different hardware:

The startup G-Code may stand your hair on end:
http://softsolder.com/2015/03/31/makerg ... -whatever/

Some gotchas:
  • Hotrod platform
  • Direct platform contact Z-axis switch
  • Nozzle purge/wipe at platform front edge
  • 24 V power supply
  • XYZ=0 at platform center
  • Surely other stuff I forget
Bear in mind that I load a spool of filament and build stuff until it runs out (*): no filament swapping, no temperature variations, no dual-extruder tweaking, no excitement. I build parts that fit into other projects around here and, for that purpose, the M2 Just Works.

(*) The cyan PETG phase just began: a major relief from retina-burn magenta.

Should try the green - it's quite restful. ;)
