Raft size in S3D

Hi,

I am printing large circular object (e.g., a bracelet) and due to its structure I need a raft for better results. Ideally the raft would be about the size of the outline of my object. S3D, however, prints a raft that covers the whole area inside the perimeter. This takes forever to print and eats a large amount of plastic without any need (as there is nothing that will build on this raft).

BTW, if I print a part of a circle, it creates a raft of the size I would have expected it to create. The problem is due to the object having "closed" perimeter.

Any way to avoid that?

Thanks!

Nir

Try a Brim instead of a raft. (Only goes out.) (Same as a skirt, but you set the offset distance to 0.) Use about 12 outlines. :)

That's actually a nice feature request for the Simplify3D guys, if they listened to them.

Try slic3r for that part, I think its raft behavior is what you're looking for.
