A feature-compatible Dimension printer is going to cause more patent and copyright issues than jailbreaking a printer that demands vendor-approved filament. Be glad that companies like MakerGear exist that make excellent products without putting their users in a straitjacket. Pat yourself on the back: If you have an M2, then you made the Right Choice.
