Setting the Z limit swithch

Post by desman » Fri Jul 03, 2015 12:57 pm

In the video on setting the Z limit switch the instructor uses a business card to set the gap. Does that gap work well the the standard M2 settings that come with the Simplify 3D software. Thank You

It's a good starting point.

You will get a much better result if you purchase a cheap set of feeler gauges, and set the Z-stop using those. Business cards can depress under pressure, feeler gauges don't.

I set mine using the .006 inch (.15mm) gauge while the machine is cold, and when it heats up, the gap gets tightened a bit, so it works out just about right. Minor adjustments can be made using the Z-Offset in Simplify 3D, after you calibrate your filament. :)
