The two sides of the print have kind of a bowed in effect. It is happening on the two sides and not on all four sides. Both sides are printed curved that way as shown in the picture. Any suggestions as to what the cause is. In addition about a half inch up a layer or two is shifted over. This happened on the same layers on this part printed yesterday as well. The inside wall is straight up and down
We have the printer dialed in and are very happy with the quality we just need to resolve these two issues.
This part is the extruder motor housing to give you a feeling for the part size.
The end of the part is square just looks crazy because of the cell phone perspective.

Re: Questions about bowed part sides plus Layer shifted.
I bet these are slicing errors. Which slicing software are you using?
Can somebody else who has access to a slicer attach a file for you to print, pretty please?

Re: Questions about bowed part sides plus Layer shifted.
Check the belt tension on the axis on which the shifting is occurring.
Re: Questions about bowed part sides plus Layer shifted.
I am using Simpify 3D. I did some checking of all of the axis yesterday. Everything seemed to be fine. I will check again. The way it positions on the machine the curved sides are on the left and right looking from the front.

Screen shots from Simplify 3D so you can see orientation and the tool path.

Re: Questions about bowed part sides plus Layer shifted.
if its not showing in the gcode preview in s3d then it should not be an error in the gcode. i cant tell by the pic so your going to need to zoom in there and take a close look. the layers where the little shift is, is there anything happening at or around that layer? process change, etc? what type of plastic is it? bed temps? what layer does the fan come on if at all? does this happen on other models and if so at the same layers? can you zip up and post the factory file?
Re: Questions about bowed part sides plus Layer shifted.
It is pla and the bed temp is 70c with an extrude temp of 215c. I was wondering if temperature could play a part in the bowing at least. Perhaps more air flow when printing pla.
Re: Questions about bowed part sides plus Layer shifted.
Are you getting any lift off the bed when printing? That can cause a bowed print as the top layers get added straight over a base that is starting to curl up. Plus, it can cause a layer shift when the curl gets big enough to contact the extruder.
