Well, looks like we're short on some filament so let's gradually go up from there. Gradually increase the extrusion multiplier and see if the results improve. As for the blobs, maybe you have a particularly runny kind of filament? (I.e., it sucks) Increasing the coast multiplier further might decrease the size of the blob.

In my experience, there are filaments out there that just simply suck. Especially the cheap chinese noname brand types.

Thanks. It's the stock filament that came with my M2. I have an unopened roll of Hatchbox PLA, I'll swap them and see if it makes a difference.

You wouldn't think that M2 filament would be that bad, however, I don't ever remember getting rid of the blobs with the M2 filament. I can't say, though, I remeber ever really trying. I mean, I wanted to at one time, but I didn't really have a good enough understanding of 3D Printing and Slic3r to succeed in that area at the time. (I also don't believe Slic3r had a coast setting, the seeming number one source of blobs.)

The M2 filament is fine, i've printed rolls of the stuff with no blobs. You've got a setting off somewhere.

I ran prints of the little octopus on both version 2.2 and 3.0. They both turned out fine with no major globs, although the version 3.0 did show a slight tendency to create little ridges at the start....from doing that back-up thing. It's not really noticeable though, so i think it can be discounted as a factor.

Larger v3 on left, smaller v2.2 on right. Both have really good quality for drafts.

If you are up for one more test - i thought of something that happened with me when printing PETG. If the nozzle is just a hair too close to the bed for the first layer, the tip can drag through previous layers and collect a little blob that gets deposited later on the print.

Reload the settings I gave you, change the infill back to 15% (you don't need to spend forever on a test), and in the G-Code section, add a value of +0.05 into the Z-Offset slot.

Give 'er one more shot - this might fix it.

Yep, still have the blobs with the Hatchbox filament but the overall print quality is slightly better.

I'll give it a shot, thanks Jules. My prints octopus really isn't that far off from yours at this point. I am printing them at 40% scale (so its a 7 minute print), this makes my imperfections appear bigger.
