Difference In Printed Cubes
Re: Difference In Printed Cubes
isnt the filament density just there for calculating the price of your print for different plastics?
Re: Difference In Printed Cubes
I get where Tim is coming from. The easiest way to do the calculations is based on the pitch Diam of the gear. It really no different than the drives for X an Y axis. You dont do the calculation off the outside of the belt it comes from the pitch. But if you get something in the gear if it less than will cause a tooth to skip it will stretch causing a pulse in the axis speed.
Re: Difference In Printed Cubes
Probably. I guess that makes sense, since the spools are sold by weight but the slicer can only calculate length of filament. If spools were sold by length, not by weight, it would be a bit more practical. None of my spools lists a filament density, and I don't even know where I would get that information from, other than for companies like MadeSolid that provide example slicer profiles.jimc wrote:isnt the filament density just there for calculating the price of your print for different plastics?
Re: Difference In Printed Cubes
The slicer should give you a fairly accurate estimate of filament length for a completed print. Just weigh a moderately heavy one and calculate the filament volume.Tim wrote:None of my spools lists a filament density, and I don't even know where I would get that information from, other than for companies like MadeSolid that provide example slicer profiles.
A fun science experiment: we should all try it on the same filament and see if we get the same numbers. What do we all have, though? eSun PETG?

... I'm probably a reasonable candidate to test this, at least for initial ballpark values.
I think I have an idle machine today, too

Not satisfied with my response from the factory on this material so even if I get it printing the way I want it I will not be buying more.
