Re: M2 Frame Vibration Dampeners
That brings up a point. Can you upload a video here.

Nah put them on Youtube

Re: M2 Frame Vibration Dampeners
Perhaps we should consider replacing the stock M2 feet with something like this:

I'd think that the Z load capacity would be almost irrelevant for this use, so long as you're not bottomed out - what we're concerned with is acceleration loads in x and y. In the M2 stock configuration (assuming a more or less rigidly mounted frame) the only shock absorption for x and y direction changes are the X and Y drive belts - what little stretch they have - resulting in ringing artifacts in the print. By letting the frame float we allow some of that load to be absorbed in the frame vibration mounting instead of the drive belt, resulting in less ringing.
Or so I'd think, anyway. I'm not exactly sure if that was the OP's intent with the design; it sounds like maybe he was concerned with induced vibration in the table making it's way back to the printer - that may also be an issue, but I'd have guessed it takes a back seat to belt elasticity related ringing.

Re: M2 Frame Vibration Dampeners
i think you would have better results in reducing vibration transmission using something like this

M2 - MKS SBase w Smoothieware, GLCD, 24v, Upg Z & extruder stepper - IR bed leveling, Astrosyn dampers X/Y/Z, MIC 6, Zebra, PEI, & glass Build Plates - E3D, V3B Hotends, & more - many other 3d printers - production printing.
Re: M2 Frame Vibration Dampeners
I went for the ghetto solution when reducing vibration from printer -> table -> printer by using egg carton packing material strategically wedged between the printer and the table. Not ideal but it really cut down on shimmy when printing small infil.
Re: M2 Frame Vibration Dampeners
LOL, i had an instant image of a MB bolted into a sold concrete block... try and vibrate that

Re: M2 Frame Vibration Dampeners
Man I haven't seen those for awhile. They could have a bearing. I know whey do a good job of taking table vibration and isolating it from the turntable.innkeeper wrote:i think you would have better results in reducing vibration transmission using something like this
Especially at loud volume.
I was trying to give the vibrations that get in to the frame from the platter someplace to go other than back to the platter.
These might work both ways. Let me know if you try it.
Re: M2 Frame Vibration Dampeners
fortunately or unfortunately, i have no test case for it.
i used dampeners on the steppers, made those supper quite, and the table it is on is extremely stable.
so nothing moves, and the PS fan is the loudest thing when printing.
i do happen to have some spikes laying around..they were for some speakers i got years ago.
