If he be worthy, shall possess the lamp of Thor

Post by Bratag » Wed Aug 19, 2015 7:21 am

My latest modeling print. I wanted a cool lamp/nightlight for my son and a full size Mjolnir sounded good. There were some existing models but I wanted something that was hollow and could also be printed in sections. There are 4 pieces in the head and 3 in the handle plus the pommel and the base and the locking mechanism disguised as the tang of the hammer/handle.
By simply unscrewing the handle from the head the head splits in half and you can get to the lighting.

I am reasonably happy with the model but not so much with the print quality but that's the tradeoff with printing at 100/mms for scroll work.

For scale those are Jim's speakers in the background.

Very Cool, I'd be cool to print one with glow in the dark filament so it stays lit for awhile after turning it off...of course turning it off might defeat the purpose of a night light but still awesome nonetheless. Great Job! :D

I kind of love that idea - night lights tend to have a battery backup that this currently doesn't have, gives a window where the kid doesn't flip out if the power goes out.

As to orders. I am happy to post up the STL files and you can print your own :)

You should rearrange your photos to make one of your photos the featured image.

... but maybe not that one. Thingiverse crops all your photos to 4x3 aspect ratio for display purposes, so it's best to just go with 4x3 photos in the first place otherwise they will get cropped in unfortunate ways. You have to click through to see the full photo.
