I get your point, but even with what I did have to work with and an email to tech support, it only took me thirty minutes, and most of that was spent typing on the forum.
A tech support email response in TEN minutes is a fabulous response time. Most companies would have you on hold for 15 minutes and spend more time bouncing you from person to person or take 24+ hours to respond to an email, if you are lucky.
The instructions are available. The tech support was available. The only issue was that MG did not provide a link on their wiki to the correct firmware for this display as it has not been officially adopted by MG.
You could have your VIKI issues worked out as quickly if you contacted MG tech support directly rather than wait for an answer on the forum. Now, with the wiki info and firmware links I reposted you can get yours going in just a few minutes as well. Enjoy!

I'm finally back to where I started two days ago!

I did go through MG. It took the better part of a working day to get to the appropriate link. Like the man said, they shoved it out the door. That's not on me man.

i haven't looked at a config h file in months. i am running the original stock firmware that has been on the wiki forever. is there a setting in there that i can use to turn the fans on at a certain temp or is that just something avail in newer marlin releases?
Re: M2 Viki 2.0 Firmware - Can anyone get it to work? (Link)
Newer releases ... but I have an E3D firmware that's got all the right mods applied if you want it. It's set up for Viki though, you'll need to comment that out (or buy my Vikis
)

So, I shelled out for a Viki2.0 from Panucatt.. it said on the page they do support RAMBo, and I've modified my Marlin 1.0.2.1 after Ed's blog ..
But for the Panucatt, what else is needed? Messing around in pins.h?

ok ill take that. this isn't the one giving you the skipped steps issue is it? just email it to me.
Re: M2 Viki 2.0 Firmware - Can anyone get it to work? (Link)
skipped steps was the Arduino version not the firmware, stupidest bullcrap waste of time ever. There's a fix for it that Josh & jsc found, code changes -- or just use Arduino 1.5.0 or earlier. I'll email it tomorrowjimc wrote:ok ill take that. this isn't the one giving you the skipped steps issue is it? just email it to me.

Ah geez, I am also stuck.
I compiled the firmware from the panucatt.com site and added the u8glib library, and all compiled without any errors. Doublechecked the wiring, but no go.
LED Ring works correctly. Blue when less than 54 degrees, Red when higher temp on the extruder.
SD Card works.
LCD backlight is on, but LCD is blank.
I guess the rotary encoder works too, but cant confirm without LCD.
Who managed to get their Viki 2.0 working?
Thanks,
loiphin.

Slightly off topic...
I have the Viki 1.0 display and 24V M2. The Viki display and the printer only turn on if I have the RAMBO USB plugged into a computer. Is this normal? I though the Viki allowed standalone printing without needing to be plugged in.
*edit* solved it. I just switched the power jumper from USB to Power Supply
