Printing a Rubber Stamp?

Post by TheRyanRanch » Fri Sep 11, 2015 3:54 pm

Wondering if anyone has successfully printed a rubber stamp using a flex filament, and if the Flex material can handle the detail? I was hoping that I could print a stamp that had text on it around 10pt font size :D

A 10 pt font fits in an "em square" just 3.5mm in size, with most letters fitting within a fraction of the total area. Considering that your extrusion width is something like .4mm, or > 10% of the size of a character, I don't think you'll be getting much fine detail, or really, any legibility at all. Try handwriting at a 10pt size using an ultra-fine .4mm pen and you'll see what it's capable of (or not).

I don't think you particularly need a flexible filament for a stamp, see: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:638091
Although perhaps it would help with ink density. I would try printing a mold, smoothing it with a waxy mold release, and filling it with silicone caulk.
