S3D Feature request wish list

Post by swbluto » Sat Sep 26, 2015 8:11 pm

I'm making my wishes here since the S3D forum is extremely non-permissive of posts in general.

There's a few wishes I'd like to make.

-Have rotation that's more like cura. Instead of rotating to some arbitrary angle that's nearly impossible to make 90 degrees or 180 degrees, it'd be nice to snap to the angles that I most often use (Like 90 degrees, 180). At the least, make it possible to type in a degree value so I can get the exact angle I want.

-Scale it more like Cura. Show the x, y and z dimensions and allow one to scale by changing the dimension you want to change. I see my object is 5.3" wide and would like it to make it 3", it'd be nice to type in 3" in the "x dimension", instead of having to pull out my calculator and then try my hardest to get that exact scale percentage that's impossible to achieve at current with the "mouse scaling". Again, keyboard inputs here would be highly desired to get exact dimensions right.

Those are the biggest.

They'll never see it here though. Surely there's a place on the S3D forum where you can put in future development requests?

Why can't you double click the model and enter your values that way?

Wow, thanks! Never knew that existed, lol.

Now, it'd be nice if S3D had an icon or tab (Just like Cura and Sketchup and pretty much every CAD program) that lets people know a rotation/scale panel like that exists! lol.

 Yep! Read it a couple of times when i was waiting for the printer to arrive, and used it for reference when it did. (That bit just didn't stick at the time.)
Reminders are good!

:ugeek: (I've actually forgotten more than i ever knew.) :ugeek:

I don't have a M2 yet still selling my TAZ 5. I own and use S3D and of course Cura. Cura is light years ahead in user interface.

My Fusion 360 CAD program now outputs the STL file in a non friendly 3D printer mode so they all need to be rotated in some way. I now use Cura for all my printing. Its so easy to work with the incoming model. No holding down keys and rotating needed.

You would think a premier program like S3D as $149 vs Free for all the rest, would have documentation you could use, pretty bad when a user needs to provide a link to his.

And that's what I hate about the new Autodesk products, 123D is one right off the bat. They have time to program and make a video but no written documentation. I can find my answer in less than one minute in a PDF or published document, why should I take 5 minutes to watch a video?
