Will this probe work for the auto-levelling?
Re: Will this probe work for the auto-levelling?
I would appreciate if anyone manages to get this working they would post up the firmware. My current FW is a Frankenstein's Monster of a thing, consisting of the beta auto leveling stuff Makergear released and a cobbled together VIKI support. I am afraid to simply upgrade to a newer version.
That being said this support might already be in the version I have, I will be interested in trying it out tonight, though honestly I have not had any issues.

Bratag,
You can probably nick my newest firmware when it's available. I'll be auto-leveling with Viki1. I'll just post it up here when I've got mesh probing working.

Where can i find the new spider? Or this already shopping on M2 units?
Re: Will this probe work for the auto-levelling?
Still in beta test, and only a limited number of them went out to forum members who requested one (and were quick enough in answering Rick's post).ryaneb85 wrote:Where can i find the new spider? Or this already shopping on M2 units?

got it, thanks Tim.

I am interested to see how it turns out !insta wrote:I'm doing this with thin (well, not as thin as I thought) sheets of steel and BuildTak, making DIY Zebra plates. The MIC6/spider has its place (on my dual) but these are the general purpose machines.PcS wrote:With a mic 6 plate and the m2s new spider for leveling this is really not needed. Lolbut thanks for the info and write up.

Re: Will this probe work for the auto-levelling?
I just want to report that my printer is not 100% behaving correctly with this firmware upgrade. It may be something in my settings or the way S3D is behaving.
The symptom is that once everything is started up and ready for instructions, S3D gives some very unusual moves if you just start jogging the axes around. Ex: Jog X 1mm will send the Z down 10 mm! Other jog buttons may not work at all, or stop working after multiple presses.
The odd thing is jogging via the LCD jogs things correctly. Also, once you home the axes (which works correctly), everything in S3D begins to behave normally.
I have changed nothing in S3D, which worked just fine with this machine on the old 1.0.2 firmware.
I haven't had time to dig into this yet, but just wanted to post up a possible issue. It may come down to a simple tweak in S3D or in the firmware. This is release candidate software after all!

Is it really jogging the Z axis down, or is that the Z axis slipping because it was trying to drive itself into the nozzle or the Z switch? I have had a similar problem with the Smoothieware and the Z-probe, in that it wants to apply some internal offset on the axes but doesn't do so until the first motor motion command tells it where to go, then suddenly it decides that it needs to be in some other position, possibly unobtainable, and tries to go there immediately.willnewton wrote:Ex: Jog X 1mm will send the Z down 10 mm!
But even if I have the right diagnosis, I don't have a solution to offer. . .

Re: Will this probe work for the auto-levelling?
I am familiar with what you are talking about. There is a setting in the FW to move the Z after probing that can cause that behavior, but mine is not activated.
I have the gantry positioned well away from all the end stops so there is none of that going on. The behavior happens before the end stops are triggered.
