Slicing issue in S3D 2.2.2?

Post by sprior » Thu Feb 12, 2015 5:11 am

I'm trying to print a case for a Raspberry Pi which has long slots which clearly need to be printed with support, but S3D is only generating support for a few of the slots which need them. Attached is a zipped factory file.

Can anyone else see if they have the same issue or explain to me why I've got it wrong? I can't imagine that the corner GPIO slot could possibly print without support.

sure, your support pillar resolution is too high. set that to 1mm. on a side note all those little thin slots wont need any kind of support to print. the only thing there that is borderline is the big wide slot. even that might not need it. little ones def not.

Thanks, that did it. The current version of S3D seems to set 4mm as the default resolution which seems to be a bad value.

Yeah actually its always been default on 4mm which is actually good for med to larger models but whenever you have tny features that need support its definately too big. I always keep mine at 2mm and adjust from there.
