Best filament for cell phone case?
Re: Best filament for cell phone case?
Thanks I'll add that to my list.Bratag wrote:Printed mine in Soft Pla from matter hackers.

I ordered my Ninjaflex from Adafruit just because I was lazy and they had my info already. They also ship rather quickly and are in NYC which is just 2 hours north of me. They appear to also have Semiflex.

Re: Best filament for cell phone case?
Ok I received the Taulman Bridge and printed the cell phone case. Even made an amateur video of it since it was my first time with Taulman. It really wasn't too bad considering some of the horror stories I've read, but I still need to tweak, the video might help some in the early stages like where I'm at:

Re: Best filament for cell phone case?
did you find the glue stick bonded the nylon really good? did your case start to warp at all?
after watching the video i watched another one of your phantom flying around your neighborhood. what is that crazy dome building that looks like a spaceship across the street?

Re: Best filament for cell phone case?
It held like a rock, no warping. I had to re-start the print the first time because the left edge didn't have any glue under it and it did started to curl at the corners after about 4 layers. Cleaned the glass made sure it was recoated properly with three passes of glue stick and no problems at all. Printed another yesterday evening and same thing, no issues at all.jimc wrote:did you find the glue stick bonded the nylon really good? did your case start to warp at all?

I always wash my glass with hot water and a sponge after each print, then before starting a print I use an alcohol swab on it, rub it down with a paper towel, blow it off with compressed air, then apply 3 coats of purple glue stick with a cold bed. I have lots of issues with my prints but very rare for something to lift from the glass unless its a huge ABS print. But then again I don't print with all those exotic filaments you use yet.

Yeah that phantom video is terrible, I had just started with it when I filmed that. I have a custom lens on the GoPro now that takes away the fish-eye. Have a lot better one's I need to put up.
That's a really modern looking house, looks like something out of the Jetson's from the front. That used to be my brothers old neighborhood, I was at his house flying it.
Re: Best filament for cell phone case?
I would use PolyMax for that. It is a lot ore flexible and less brittle than PLA but yet not designed to be flexible like NinjaFlex.
PolyMax is PLA with Acrylic mixed in.

Thanks, I'll make sure and give it a try on my next project that needs flex.rsilvers wrote:I would use PolyMax for that. It is a lot ore flexible and less brittle than PLA but yet not designed to be flexible like NinjaFlex.

You can also get PLA-PHA which costs less than PolyMax and may be just as good.
