Extruder head with 5mm tube mount

Post by willnewton » Sun Jan 31, 2016 10:11 pm

I added a mount for a 5mm tube to the newest v4r2 extruder head. Tim has also posted a tube mount for a 4mm tube here http://www.forum.makergear.com/viewtopi ... =10&t=3206. You can find the original file on the MG Github site.

You really need something like this for floppy, flexible filament failure fighting. The old mount will allow the PTFE tube to flop over when printing flex filaments, which can cause a jam. Make sure to ream out the filament passages with a long 2mm bit to ensure proper extrusion.

Printed in eSun ePC because it's heat resistant and tough and I like cleaning clogs made from ePC when I switch back to PLA. :)
ZIP has an STL file for printing that shows how I jammed this together in Rhino with no attempt to be pretty about it. I'm not proud. I was in a hurry. It works. ;)

Looks good! :D (I need to whip something like this up for the dual eventually - I've got a spool of eSun flex just sitting there, staring at me.) :|
