S3D freezes/not responding

Post by Alloy » Mon Aug 03, 2015 2:05 pm

I am having the problem of S3D freezing up/not responding when I try to "repair flipped triangles" and "parsing g-code" for this certain model. In the past I have had problems generating support, repairing, and post processing other models. Computer specs:

OS: Windows 7 Pro
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16GHz 2.85GHz
Ram: 8GB
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI

My hardware is above the minimum system requirements for S3D...

Try netfabb for your model debogofying needs. They have a downloadable free program, but their net service is easy to use: http://netfabb.azurewebsites.net

Most of my files are good. I just run the repair as a good practice. Unfortunately, I do not have permissions to install programs and that still doesn't solve the problem of generating the g-code.

The net version could repair the model to get a good model that s3d won't choke on.

After having trouble with the first part, I decided to try a different part. Everything worked fine, so I backed out of that preview and imported the part I was having trouble with. Set everything up and hit prepare for print. This time it worked...does S3D just need to warm up with a practice file

Also, I bought S3D so I wouldn't need any other programs. What is the point of have this "amazing" software if it wont even work.

I would say you have a computer issue. The software has been nothing but flawless on my machines. Maybe try a restart.

Having issues slicing the same part today again. So I did a restart of the system with no luck. The system is well above minimum spec... Time to contact S3D?

I will have to get back to you on sending the part. I know I can't upload it for anyone to grab but I might be able to email it to a couple individuals.
