The oem filament guide was starting to bother me. I didn't like that it pulled the filament to the side and that the spool would "click, click, CLUNK" every few minutes. This filament guide uses a common skate bearing to allow it to self-align with the filament path. It runs smoothly and silently, less drag too.

Enjoy.

I was bothered by the "clunk" and the impact that may have on the feed, thought more about the spool. To you have a bearing on the spool as well? Has anyone done that?

No bearing on the spool, although it couldn't hurt. The way this guide allows the filament to feed straight off the spool keeps the spool turning slowly and consistently instead of getting caught and jumping to catch-up every couple of minutes.
cheers,
