Shorter Z knob

Post by jprochnow » Thu Oct 08, 2015 2:40 pm

I printed out the new z knob last night and I plan to install it this evening. Do I just take the old knob off and put the new knob(1 piece) on? What size set screw is required for this? Also in the new knob there is no hole for the set screw. Is it safe to assume the slot on the side allows for the knob to fit to the z rod and the set screw just holds it in place?

I printed that one too, but the one that came with the dual setup does not have a slot, it has a hole where the set screw goes, and it comes with a shaft collar and set screw. (They might have redesigned it after deciding that a hole works better than a slot there.) You might need to pry or break the shaft collar out of the original knob to use it in the new one you printed.

When you install it, it has to sit up off of the frame by about 0.2mm or so. (They suggest using a snippet of filament underneath it to place it properly.)

Just say NO to set screws (and the wobble they create).
