Metal Bed (Aluminum or Stainless) Will it work? Benefits?

Post by jcspball13 » Fri Oct 16, 2015 3:06 pm

I work at a sheet metal shop, so getting a piece of metal to replace my bed would be easy and cheap. My question is: will it work, would it work better, and what problems could I face?

Would love the help, and if it works, would be able to provide users here with extras for pretty cheap!

Any input would be great!

Can you get me a flat sheet of steel milled into a 310mm disc? Something like 10ga steel ... looking for 2-6mm thickness. I'd like the surface flat to within 0.05mm (0.002"), if possible.

Need this for an inductive probe bed on my delta :geek:

MIC6 would also work but it's way more expensive than steel.
