I have an issue with my nozzle temperature dropping after my first layer. I am printing with PLA and have the temperature set to 215. extruder will heat up to 215 and begin printing, but when the bed fan kicks in the temperature will drop to around 191 and it will not come back up to 215. It almost seems like it will slowly heat back up when I start getting close to the top of my model. Some of these prints are over 3 hours and it will be at least 2 hours before it starts getting close to the original temp.
Anybody have any idea what can cause this?
upgraded from V3A to V3B but have the old 12V setup. Did upgrade to new firmware.
temparature drop with V3B extruder in S3D
Re: temparature drop with V3B extruder in S3D
Either your 12V setup can't keep up with the heating requirements, or more likely the firmware you burned is using constants intended for some other setup.
Try a PID autotune, can't hurt and may fix you: http://reprap.org/wiki/PID_Tuning

Re: temparature drop with V3B extruder in S3D
it might be the firmware as you said. there is only a firmware option for V3B hotend and 24V. I could not find any other firmware.
I tried without updating firmware, but then the hotend only heated to 10 degrees below my set temperature and never started printing.
Don't know where to get the right firmware though.
tried looking at your link for PID tuning, but am not sure if I understand it all. Will try looking at it in the morning when I am fresh.
