Lithium grease or better?
Lithium grease or better?
I have specially made grease with PTFE for a high-speed compressor that I use. It is stable from -20F to 500F. I would think that this is suitable for the M2 steel Z rod. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Stickier it is, the more it will pick up strands (extruded filament). 3 in 1 is recommended by MG.
Over time, you will see the threaded rod grab strings. Do a quick visual every now, then
clean as necessary,
How did your first print go?

Re: Lithium grease or better?
Print went perfectly after I adjusted the gap between the extruder and bed. Thanks for your help earlier. I actually printed the ABS without any hairspray or tape. It did not warp and stuck on until the end. I used 245/110 for my temperature settings throughout the print.
The lithium grease is for the threaded rod (1). The 3-1 I believe is for the straight poles (2).

Re: Lithium grease or better?
Bed temp at 110 abs prints with be very soft, let them cool fully before pulling off the glass bed.
Most of the time during cooling abs prints launch/pop off the glass with hair spray.
Patience with the abs cooling process.

Re: Lithium grease or better?
IIRC, the lithium grease is the for X and Y linear bearings. (Great if you can get a needle and inject it into the slides instead of just laying it on the edges of the rail.) 3-in-1 for the vertical slide rods AND the acme lead screw on the Z side. Again, IIRC....imsmooth wrote:The lithium grease is for the threaded rod (1). The 3-1 I believe is for the straight poles (2).

Re: Lithium grease or better?
According to http://makergear.wikidot.com/m2-lubrication, 3-in-1 for Z rods (smooth slide rods), black nylon idlers (not relevant to newer models, I believe), and white lithium grease for the Z lead screw and linear rails.
Re: Lithium grease or better?
Thanks, Jin. I stand corrected.
