Where are the "idlers" mentioned on this page located on the printer?

Black Nylon idlers
Re: Black Nylon idlers
jdacal,
On M2s that were delivered more than, say, a year ago, the end of the X and Y belts away from the stepper motor had a black nylon toothed idler, which fit the tooth pattern of the belts perfectly, but which had to be kept oiled. More recent M2s have a stack of three bearings instead -- two flanged ones and one unflanged. The instruction you referenced is a tad out of date.
My M2 was shipped in April 2003 and had the idlers. I've since replaced them with the bearing stacks. Before I got the bearings, I had tried some different washers with the nylon idler to try to reduce the oiling needed. I think the originals were delrin; I tried nylon, teflon, and a type of oil-impregnated plastic washer (nylatron, I think was the trade name) -- the last one seemed to do pretty well. But the bearings are better and what now ships on all new M2s.

Thanks Dale. No wonder I couldn't find them!
